Nugen: Will be using Windows 7 for the next offering of the Systems Administration class. on Windows Server 8 . Will use VMware on virtual boxes.
Marketing slides - - (slides are on Promotional Material page)
1. add a slide at end, who to contact
and link to website at both ends with more info, and when it starts/scheduling
2. open to non-degree students from UNO. Would be ok from UiA side also, but all students need to have the pre-requisites for the specific courses. Can add this information to slide on 'who is eligible'
Marketing, further materials - -
1. Prepare for advisors - - can include the information as part of packet for all majors, but also prepare separate flyer.
2. Info needed: add specific prereqs for courses, the course numbers etc, the general admission guidelines for non-degree students, how to start/apply/declare the certificate, registration process (some of this can be added by advisors), guidelines for administrators (how advising procedures work); projected start date and timing of course offerings
3. Have separate website for it, on both ends
4. Student questions anticipated - - what are course requirements; syllabus content; expectations for workload; what it's like to take a UiA class/a UNO course; time commitments; synch/asynch aspects;
5. Seek similar look and feel for how courses are presented in flyers and websites on both sides.
Official start date:
- Fall 2012, as the target, but some courses can already be available
- Handouts can be provided but they have to include clause that the cert/conc is pending approval.
Registration:
- Different options, depends on whether student might need local registration for financial aid or other issues.
- Could register locally as independent study or as an exchange student. Need to consider what is best for student.
Examinations and Grading:
- have had some discussion on this. Two systems are quite different. Some discussion of this in materials for students will be needed, so they know what to expect.
- at UiA, if the course is entirely project based, it's not a problem. UiA system is flexible, but exam office might require UNO students to be taking exam at same time, if a sit-down exam. Consider using same tools at exam time as for teaching, e.g., Adobe Connect for oral exam.
Action items:
1. Advisors - provide specific list of information they need from us and we will harmonize that info
2. Advisors - follow up information for what will work best for students on registration
3. Peter and Ilze will meet with Farida before August trip to KRS to get draft of materials for sharing at UiA
4. Bente and Farida will connect with each other
